As the regional governor I am very pleased that this year also there is a meeting of young sportsmen of the old Continent in Hluboká and Zliv – European championship. I consider this event extraordinary, not only for Hluboka and Zliv, but even for the whole region. Sport is an important part of contemporary life and we as a region do actively support it.

I believe that the young baseball players will enjoy their time on the field but also off the field, where they will be given a chance to see the beauty of South Bohemia. I am strongly convinced that such a sport event will attract many fans who can appriciate the kids-like eager and will for sport and will support young sportsmen in their hobby.

I was at the foundation of Hluboka baseball club in 1994 and I still follow what is going on in the club. People running the club in these days were kids by 16 years ago and our teacher of English and baseball coach - Greg Edwards were telling our how is baseball a great game how our club could look like in the future.

Nowadays the club has many activities which make Hluboka atractive.I am really glad that we are able to host the European championship this year as well and I am proud that I will take part personally.

I consider it honour that we are able to organise such a big event all again for the third time and I am looking forward to meet young baseball players from all parts of Europe. I hope for a great weather and great days at the field.

City of Zliv supports the European baseball championship with the highest efforts which could be given by the small town, which takes place after agreement between cities of Hluboká and Zliv in both towns.

The thiny town budget was able to find 120k Czech crowns for helping creating an appropriate baseball facility in Zliv. The efforts  and positive approach shown by the local club has been appriciated and I am convinced that this event can help not only to the propagation of baseball but morever to the deeper cooperation between our two towns.
